My name is Abaz Poturovic. I am 26 years old and I come from Skopje.
Currently I am a volunteer in Bratislava (Slovakia) where I realize my own EVS project.
I have been here for 6 months and with certainty I could say that this is one of my best experiences I have ever had in my live. Actually the idea of being a volunteer was inspired by my number of friendships I acquired with EVS volunteers who did their volunteering in Macedonia.
I am a volunteer in MladiinfoSlovensko. The organization operates in the field of youth information about the various opportunities for education and volunteering in Slovakia as well as outside the borders. Three other volunteers and I are currently here working on promotion of the European volunteering service – EVS, organizing events, taking part in fairs and helping the other youth organizations.
I could say that EVS volunteering gives you the opportunity to personal improvement and of course we learn the language of the country in which we are. Therefore the rest of the volunteers and I have Slovakian language classes twice a week.
Our free time, mostly the weekends, we use it to travel in different places in Slovakia and around as well.
I would also like to state that this EVS experience helped me to improve my English and also gained communication skills, computer skills and I managed to visit other countries and cultures that I haven’t had to opportunity to do it before.
