Thanks to our partners Ritam Zdravlja from Serbia and in cooperation with the Inzinjeri zastite zivotne sredine, the Volunteers Centre Skopje participates on the third phase of the project “Seeds for sustainable development” that is 10 active days of Job shadowing in Novi Sad, Serbia, in the period from 15-25th of October 2016. In a working atmosphere, 6 countries per 1 participant, Goran Galabov is the representative of our Volunteers Centre Skopje:
“Job shadowing is a unique and excellent opportunity for the participants of different countries and organizations to learn and get an insight into the work and eco-friendly actions and campaigns that our successful partner from Serbia implement in their work to create more healthy and eco-friendly environment as well as raising the awareness of the local population for preservation of the nature and cultural heritage. We started this journey with getting to know the city of Novi Sad and its main issues.
By visiting some local historical and natural sites like Petrovaradin fortress and the nearby national park of Fruska Gora we had the chance to learn and see the action plans and results that our hosting organization had implemented. We also had contacts with the small municipalities like Irig and Jarak as a result of the cooperation and help that our hosts had given to support their efforts. Visit of local wineries and small agricultural entrepreneurship was also part of the plan. Also few days we are taking part in the local fair Novosadska Jesen (held twice a year) where the organization is exchanging old paper brought by the citizens for planting trees and flowers. This campaign tends to raise the awareness of the citizens for reducing the waste, reusing the old paper and things and recycle them properly with low impact on the environment. The presence and the engagement of the Job shadowing participants went viral in the local media giving the campaign and the work of our host organization additional strength for support at the local authorities and the citizens.
In the schedule also is included a study visit of Belgrade and some institutions and organizations involved in the work of our hosts as well as visit of a brand new youth center opened few days ago in Novi Sad and plant some trees for the campaign.
Job shadowing is a way and opportunity to get an experience and share the best practices and possible solutions for different issues that can be implemented and brought back in the countries of the participants.”
