The Association for Volunteerism Volunteers Center Skopje, and the Youth Magazine “Voices”, became the 36th member of the Media Literacy Network of the Republic of Macedonia on Thursday. The coalition was created in order to facilitate communication and consultation between the various subjects in the country, working on raising the level of media literacy of all citizens. It should contribute to more frequent cooperation between relevant stakeholders and to better and more sustainable project outcomes.
The Network participates in public institutions and ministries, civil society organizations, educational institutions and broadcasters. It is foreseen with the Program of the Agency for Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services for the Promotion of Media Literacy 2016 – 18.
Promoting media literacy means encouraging critical and analytical thinking and developing civic awareness. Citizens who are literally media are aware of the content they use, how they found it, who they did and what purpose. In addition, they use it wisely, ethically and effectively.
