Between 15th and 23rd June a youth exchange ‘Social Media Literate = SAFE + EMPOWER + ENGAGE’ will take place in Struga. In the period of 7 working days and 2 travel days, it will connect 37 participants coming from Denmark- EUROPEAN COMMUNITY MEDIA CENTER AARHUS, Republic of Macedonia- ASSOCIATION FOR VOLUNTEERISM VOLONTERSKI CENTAR SKOPJE, Hungary- Hang-Kép Kulturális Egyesület, Finland- Maahanmuuttajien Perhe ja Nuorten yhdistys ry, Turkey- LYKIA IZCILIK VE DOGA SPORLARI KULUBU DERNEGI KERDOSKOPIKI ETAIRIA and from Greece MEDIA TERRA NEA ASTIKI MI.
The project responds to the needs and interests of young people from participants’ communities to increase their social media literacy.
Youth exchange will use methods and techniques of non-formal education developing competences of the participants to use social media effectively, critically and in safe way. By understanding the role of social media in 21st century, participants will be equipped with practical skills. Project that is hosted by Volunteers Center Skopje will be streamed on line by daily updates on media channels. Youth will create posts, articles, videos, pictures aiming to reach more and more people, learning and teaching about what media are. The participants will become more literate and will be able to effectively use social media in the future.
