Volunteering in Ankara

Selam! I am Martin Trajkovski, I am 22 years old and I am coming from Republic of North Macedonia. I just finished my Bachelor degree at Faculty of Law in Bitola (St. Climent of Ohrid University). Currently I am active volunteer and youth worker in a lot of projects in some NGO’s in North Macedonia.

First of all, because I have a lot of experience with Erasmus + programs, 3 months ago I decided to do an EVS, which I felt that I need to fill my CV with more experience, and trying new things, facing new culture, by meeting new friends and learning a new language. So, here I am, in beautiful capital of Turkey: Ankara. In fact this is my first time in Turkey, I love the culture, food, their hospitality etc.

The activities that I am doing are: promoting social entrepreneurship and ERASMUS+ benefits, moderating English and German Conversation club, teaching English to 1^st, 2^nd , 3^rd and 7^th graders in the neighborhood of Cubuk. Moreover, I am taking the Turkish lessons every week learning the sounds of this beautiful and melodic language which I enjoy a lot.

IMG_20190414_115642_513 Since I am a short term volunteer, I decided to take all the opportunities to explore more and more this beautiful country. So my adventures time here started with Eskişehir. On one day we succeeded to visit Sazova park, the old city and Odunpazari. One of the most famous place all over the world with thousands of visitors every year is Cappadocia, the meaning of its name is the “Land of beautiful horses”. My last but not least trip was to the fabulous town of Izmir, where I spent almost 3 days and fell in love with this city and I can say from now on it’s one of my favorite places in this country. Afterwards I visited one of the famous hot spring water places Pamukkale and Antique pool of Cleopatra which I strongly recommend to visit. My last destination of this trip was marvelous city of Bodrum and this is not the end: I am also planning to visit Bursa and Marmaris.
