Macedonia won against the Czech Republic.
In Skopje, Macedonia managed to overcome the difference of -6 from the first match in Zlin. Although the final result of 34-27 gives the impression Macedonia barely managed to qualify for the World Championship in France next year, what could be seen on the field was domination and control for the entire match. With the new manager and the current form of the players the first match was bad, but the game in Skopje was what is expected from the Macedonian national handball team. The way of play reminded of their best matches in the World Championship in Croatia, as well as the European Championship in Serbia. A first half were Macedonia played great, with passionate defense and a good attack. Even since then you could see the dominance with a lead that took Macedonia to France even at half time of 19-11. Although what every team should have is to play to the end at the same level, in which the Macedonian players succeeded.
Something that made this match special was the thing that it was the last game for Filip Mirkulovski and Naumche Mojsovski. And they played excellent. Filip Mirkulovski was without a miss, 6 goals out of 6 shots and what we are all used to see from him, no holding back and with a huge heart. Naumce Mojsovski showed that he is still an excellent handball player, with the thing that everyone that watches sport has to appreciate playing with his heart on his sleeve, even if that brings a split lip. We can talk a lot about their last match and as they said most emotional, handball is still a team game and that is what brings the result. Dejan Manaskov with 11 goals, Pribak as well as Stojanche Stoilov are always there to contribute and of course the captain Kiril Lazarov who played a good game, his average, but he himself put the standards so high. Even though it was just the second match under the our new manager Lino Chervar, it was evident that he has put in a part of what he always says that wins matches, and that is the defense that played well along with the goalkeeper Borko Ristovski.
Speaking of new things, probably the main task of Lino Chervar will be bringing some fresh blood into the national team. To choose and make them work, the new and young handball players that need to be what Macedonia will take joy and happiness from in the next years. Now they need to come in, replace and be better than Mirkulovski and Mojsovski who said that the chance for the youth to step up is one of their main reasons for retiring from the national team.
Now it is up to the Handball federation to show how it worked and the young players to be better and aim higher than the results so far.
